Around 1950, Sig and Elsie Nelson converted the Grizzly Service Station to the Glacier Cafe, featuring a mountain goat, a symbol of the Great Northern Railroad. "We Have Hard Seats and Cold Coffee" read the sign on the front of the building, but people knew the cafe offered hot coffee and good dinner food in a welcoming atmosphere. The Glacier Cafe closed in the latter part of the 20th century.
The Glacier Cabins were located on Havre's east end, along with the Grizzly Service Station. Sig and Elsie Nelson bought the Glacier Cabins in 1941. In 1948 , the Nelsons partnered with F.E. Peterson to build Pete's Oldsmobile Auto and GMC pickup truck agency, later known as Glacier Auto Sales, which burned in 1965.
